Dementia/ Alzheimers Care
Carers fully trained in Dementia/ Alzheimers care
Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease or a series of strokes. The specific symptoms that someone with dementia experiences will depend on the parts of the brain that are damaged and the disease that is causing the dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia, but not the only one. It is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly affects parts of the brain concerned with memory and thinking skills.
Our carers are fully trained in Dementia/Alzheimer care – it is part of their induction training when joining the company and we build on this training at regular periods throughout their employment with us.
We are here to improve comfort and quality of life
We spend a great deal of time getting to know the person in our care – what makes them tick, what their interests are, and how they like things to be – this includes speaking to family and friends.
This is all part of our person-centred approach in the delivery of care as we understand that the symptoms will vary from person to person. Our aim is to improve the comfort and quality of life and allow you to stay independent in your own home for longer. Having a consistent routine in familiar surroundings provides comfort and reassurance together with a home of invaluable memories.
Our services include:
- Support and care at each stage of the disease.
- Support with shopping, cooking, morning routine or companionship.
- Support with everyday tasks that may become difficult, or support to continue with hobbies and activities.
- Support and advice for family/friends.
- Assisting with medication management.
- Specialist end of life care.
